I love the feeling I get when I'm in a city I've never been to. I especially love it when I'm visiting in the east coast. There's something so cozy about this side of the continent. Don't get me wrong, I love living in the west coast - but I've really enjoyed the past few days here in Washington D.C. The people are so friendly and it's been pretty normal and chill so far. We've been staying at The Donovan which is seriously one of my favorite hotels I've ever stayed at. The customer service has been on another level - they know how to make you feel right at home!
Yesterday I was excited to spend our last day with a quick day trip to Annapolis to celebrate our 4 month wedding anniversary! Stevie was actually born there so I was anxious to see what it's like. Here's a not so fun part of the story. When we arrived in Annapolis we had lunch and were suddenly swarmed with phone calls and emails regarding deadlines (etc..) so we had to go to a coffee shop so we could get some work done. It felt like one of those days where one bad thing kept leading to another, and suddenly I felt upset that we drove all the way to Annapolis to basically sit at a coffee shop and work. I even told Stevie how sad I was that we couldn't get out to enjoy our anniversary.Suddenly, those feelings took a 360 turn when OUR WEDDING SONG came playing on the coffee shop speakers. We totally stopped what we were doing, looked at each other, and saw each other's eyes glisten. It was such a 'God moment.' Our wedding song (Tupelo Honey by Van Morrison) is an oldie that I've never heard come on ANYWHERE. Of all days, it randomly starts playing on our wedding anniversary. In that moment, I felt like God was reminding us both of our love for each other and not to let go of the rest of the day. After that, things started looking up and we managed to get everything accomplished so we could go out and enjoy our time! We even decided to shoot my outfit that I was wearing! Yipeeee!
