Back to life. Back to reality. I find it crazy how one day I am in one part of the world and the next day I’m on the opposite side. The minute I arrived in Dubai last week, I knew it was going to be a trip of a lifetime. I mentioned in this morning's newsletter that this trip was so memorable and for so many reasons. I was there for the FIRST Simply Stylist Dubai conference which gave me the opportunity to speak to a room filled with young women about my career in digital and even some personal girl-to-girl talk. It was so special! The conference was only one day so I still had the rest of the week to explore and experience a little taste of Dubai! Here are some of my trip highlights...
1. Simply Stylist
I’ve spoken at countless conferences over the years (including several Simply Stylist events) but I definitely wanted to give my girls in Dubai some extra love and attention! I totally cried at one point during the conference. I have so much love for my girls!!!!!!2. Meeting HUDA BEAUTY
This was NOT planned! I totally had a fan girl moment when I met the queen of beauty Miss Huda Beauty at the House of Bazaar event. She is truly the definition of GOALS. We share similar goals in the same industry, so I admired her superwoman charm. She is an amazing mother and supports fellow influencers - like little 'ole me -which is something we don’t see enough of on social media! Her sister Mona reminded me of my sister which is why we instantly connected. They spoiled me with lots of makeup that I can’t wait to try out for you guys! #HudaForPresident3. Fun Activities!
The desert safari we went on was hands down my favorite activity! We drove 30 minutes through the bumpiest sand dunes but it was so fun because it actually felt like we were in Aladdin! LOL Afterwards, we enjoyed a middle eastern BBQ and live show featuring belly dancing and entertainment in the middle of the desert. I also took a selfie with the tallest building in the world - Burj Khalifa. So fun!
On our last day, Stevie and I went on a helicopter ride to see the beautiful city from up above! This was another highlight. We also visited Old Dubai to see the ancient Al Bastakiya. I was mesmerized by all of the beautiful buildings and architecture.4. Kris Fade Morning Show!
Dubai was a trip full of firsts. It was a super exciting opportunity getting to be on Kris Fade’s morning show (my first time doing radio!) and it was A BLAST! For those of you not familiar, Kris Fade’s show is a hit. They are UAE’s #1 hit radio station - uhhh major. I was only supposed to be on air for 15 minutes but they ended up having me on for a hour! BTW, I find radio so much easier than TV. We were having too much fun. I got a recording so I’ll be sure to include bits and pieces in my VLOG coming soon. ;)5. Having Stevie With Me
Here comes the cheese. I always love when my man slash business partner can travel with me, but Dubai was extra special because it was Stevie’s first little taste of the Middle East! Stevie got to try so much delicious food (that I grew up on!), see the history, and of course experience the amazing hospitality. Glad we got to experience this trip together.6. SHOPPING
Malls are NO JOKE in Dubai. The fact that we were staying at The Kempinski located INSIDE The Mall of the Emirates. I'm glad Steve convinced me to bring an empty suitcase because he knew I was going to SHOP! Speaking of shopping, we also got to experience the Souk! I ended up buying fun little souvenirs and some Gold for my mama! :)Stay tuned for the full VLOG recap coming soon to my channel. I'm also going to share another post specially featuring the outfits I wore in Dubai and their details. I'll end this post with some more pretty pics of the city. :)
