I remember my first time trying to contour being a scary moment- lol! I think I saw too many charts on how to sculpt your face and went waaaay too far with it! As with anything new, there's definitely a learning curve, but now that I have the go-to failproof products I use daily to contour my face, I wanted to share them with you babes! Let's do this ;)
For Contouring Beginners:
If this is your very first time contouring, I highly recommend using products you probably already have. I know most of us happen to have purchased foundations that are 2-3 shades too dark for our skin tones and this is the best way to use them up! Using your foundation to contour is the easiest route since the product will blend much more seamlessly without a lot of effort. If you happen to have a foundation stick, even better! I love this one by Bobbi Brown :) I just draw on exactly where I want my contour to be and blend out either with a stippling brush or Beauty Blender.
Barely There Makeup:
TOM FORD Shade and Illuminate is for all of my natural makeup loving babes! Even on my most fresh-faced days, I still like to define my cheeks and temples with a little bit of contour! This super sheer contour and highlight duo is so easy to blend out even with your fingers and is truly undetectable- yay!
For Heavy-Glam Lovers:
Cream contouring will be your best friend if you're going full-on glam! For nighttime events or just when I want my contour to really pop, I reach for this cream contour palette by Anastasia Beverly Hills! This is one you can get a little carried away with so my Saz-tip for cream products would be to add little by little- don't go in too heavy-handed!
Sculpting Pro:
If you want super sculpted cheeks, this Kevyn Aucoin powder is a MUST! This product literally mimics natural shading and definition that I haven't found with any other contour. A little bit of this goes a long way so make sure you use a smaller sized contour brush like this one and tap off any excess before applying it to your face!
All-in-One Contour Set:
The key to keeping your contour looking as natural as possible is playing around with shades for your skin tone. I know for me that can change a lot depending on the seasons so having a palette like this Kat Von D one is essential. I get to play around with the different contour shades and create one that best fits my skin tone day-to-day. Saz-tip: use the lighter banana shade directly under your cheek contour to make it pop even further!
Those were my favorite contouring products I wanted to share with you guys! Have you tried out any of these products? Let me know your thoughts in the comments down below!!
