My hair is naturally curly, a little kinky at times and dry on most days without product. I've been getting tons of requests from you amazing readers/followers about my straight hair routine, healthy tips, products I use, etc. If you want to know the secret behind this look I did here keep reading...
It all starts in the shower. In other words, I don't wash and re-straighten my hair everyday. I wash my hair every 2-3 days (sometimes 4 - it just depends on the level of activities.) When my roots get a little greasy/oily I will spray some dry shampoo and I'm good to go.
The products I use for my straight hair are pretty simple. I'll go into more detail in this next section. It's important to note what's in the products you use and the amount you're applying to your hair. However, there's nothing wrong with putting product in your hair. I change up my hair routine depending on whether or not it's been colored, the specific hairstyle I want to achieve, etc. For my straight hair routine, I've been using Living Proof's Perfect Hair Day shampoo and conditioner since I got back from the Boston summit and I love it! I like the smell (that's important to me) and how it cleans my hair. In other words, it gets all the product and goop out since the last time I washed. I get out of the shower and feel like my hair was actually cleaned. A fresh new palette to work with every time!Washing Tip: When you condition your hair, run your fingers through it or use a wide-tooth comb while you're in the shower (I know it hurts sometimes!) but this really helps penetrate the conditioner into your hair deep into the follicle. Just what I need!Time for styling. Here's what I use to prep for my blow dry. When my hair is still damp, I apply Kerastase 'Keratine Thermique' product for anti-frizz and heat protection (just a nickle size for my short hair is all I need). I've also been using Davines 'All in one Milk Treatment' which is one of my favorite parts of all time. It's a unisex product and it also is a heat protector and smoothing agent. Now I will blow dry my hair with an ionic blow dryer. The negative charged ions in an ionic blow dryer help cut the blow dry time in half with no frizz. It's so much healthier for your hair too! (Ionic vs. Conventional hairdryers - I can go on all day. I will link + recommend one at the end of the post) Next, section by section after my blow dry I will run my flat iron through my hair. As I'm sectioning it, I spray the last product which is Living Proof's 'Straight' directly onto the piece of hair I'm about to flat iron. Flat iron's are where most of the damage begins to take place so by spraying this directly to each section as a thermal protector - it protects your hair up to 450 degrees! I love it! (I'll even spray it on day 2 as I touch up with the flat iron)
I love my hair since using this de-tangling brush you see in the picture above. I haven't used a 'regular' brush when I get out of the shower in over 2 years! You can get one anywhere (super cheap). Also, I've been using T3's straightener for my hair which gets the job done fast!Curly hair tip: I love my curly hair and there are days when I go au natural to give my hair a rest. My curls will dry up faster (especially after the gym) so I recently started co-washing. Basically this is when you hop in the shower and skip the shampoo and only use a light amount of conditioner. It helps!Hope you enjoyed this post. Should I do an exact same one for curly hair? If so, comment below and let me know if that sounds like something you want to see!
