If you've been following me for a while, you'll know I love switching up my look throughout the season, and my favorite way to do that is with my hair! I have naturally curly hair (currently short hair might I add) that sometimes I like to wear as is or straighten for a sleek look. Even on my lazy days, I love putting in a little bit of time towards making my hair look like I didn't just roll out of bed! Trust me, babes, it's not pretty lol! It's so fun to play with different hairstyles, and since I've cut my hair short, I have found a lot of great products to help me achieve any look I desire! Let's go over some mistakes to avoid for short hair and what I suggest instead!1. Protect your hair, girl!I like to let my hair air-dry as much as possible, BUT if I have to blowdry, I'll make sure to add some heat protectant first! A go-to for me is the Kerastase Blow Dry Cream. Not only does it protect my hair from heat, but it also makes my hairstyle last longer! Another one of my favorites is Oribe's Straight Away Smoothing Blowout Cream. This one is perfect for when I want to straighten my hair, it leaves a beautiful shine and a smooth finish too.2. Say Bye bye frizz.I don't know if it's just me, but my flyaways can be more unruly when I have short hair! To tame the frizz, I suggest starting out with towel drying your hair lightly, don't scrunch it up too much! That only adds extra friction that leads to even more frizz. Once my hair is towel dried, I love using Aveda's Style-Prep Smoother. It's a serum that helps fight against humidity (my nightmare lol) and protects against damage from heat styling.3. Work your natural hair!Having curly hair, I love playing around with straight hairstyles from time to time, but lately, I have been embracing my curls! I love how my short hair gives my curls extra volume and makes my natural hair pop even more! Instead of overworking your hair, have fun with your natural texture! When I leave my hair curly, I like to curl a couple of pieces, especially the ones framing my face, with my T3 Micro wand for extra definition.4. Shine bright.Shiny hair=healthy hair. If your hair is lackluster or just thick and coarse like mine, adding an extra boost of shine is a step you shouldn't miss! While adding shine is important, you also don't want to weigh your short hair down. To avoid having limp, overly saturated hair, I love using Dove's Regenerative Nourishment Serum-in-Oil from the ear down and mostly focusing on my ends.5. Consider dry shampoo your BESTIE!It wouldn't be a hair post if I didn't mention dry shampoo! Washing your hair daily is super drying on your strands whether short or long and not to mention time-consuming! I like to go 3-4 days without washing my hair and freshen up my locks with dry shampoo in-between. My favorite one is by Amika (this was in a previous Bless Box!). Their Perk Up Dry Shampoo smells incredible and feels so lightweight, definitely a must-have!Those were the five mistakes to avoid if you have short hair. Putting the right products in your hair can be really beneficial and give your hair more longevity. Have any tips for short hair?
