When you don't have a ton of space - you transform whatever space you do have into your baby girl's nursery room. That's exactly what we did with an extra closet we had in our master room. We teamed up with Disney Baby to create a magical nursery for Baby Hendrix, and I LOVE how it turned out! We had so much fun figuring out how to take a small space and make it practical and pretty! Getting the nursery situated was definitely a top priority- especially since baby girl could be arriving any day now! The previous home owner made it easy for us by turning the closet into a little nursery for her grandkids- meant to be, right?! :)
We obviously wanted to re-do the entire thing so we could put our twist on it. Going into it, I knew I wanted the nursery to be light and airy. We started off by painting the walls a pretty pale pink color that added a girly touch! I wanted to keep everything else in the space white to help brighten it. It made picking out the furniture and decorations so simple- while keeping the room looking as spacious as possible. For the crib, we went with a timeless style from Ethan Allen! I love the details on it and that we can easily use it again for baby #2! (even if it's a boy!)
For her changing bed, we chose this one that's SO perfect because of all the extra storage space. Whenever you're trying to maximize a small space, I think it's a great idea to go with furniture pieces that are multi-purpose functional. This one doubles up as changing station and a chest to keep all of her extra diapers and little clothes in. The knobs on the drawers are my favorite! I love the pretty rosette detail on the dresser- it's a girly touch without being too much!
For the decor, we added floating shelves on the wall to display a few pictures and books that I can't wait to read to her. If you're furnishing a small area, it's essential to take advantage of all of the wall space! Once we added our pictures and this sweet gift we got from my mother-in-law, I felt like the nursery came to life in a personal and homey way.
For the rest of her decor, we added a few subtle touches of pink with the bedding and other little details (stuffed animals) to tie the whole room together. And finally, we decided to add a white furry rug and sheer white drapes. The fur added a soft, cozy feel to the nursery and the curtains allow the light to flow through the room beautifully. We will eventually install black out curtains, but for now we're good - considering she won't actually be in this room for a while (I'll be nursing her and want her close to my bedside).
I have a feeling we're going to make some sweet memories with Baby Hendrix in her little nursery. I can't wait to bring her home! The best tip I can give you if you're stressing out over creating the perfect nursery or having a hard time making decisions, don't! Worrying will only make things harder for you, so try to take it one step at a time and don't feel like you have to make it perfect over night!
