My Favorite Skincare Products
Today I’m giving you a peek inside my favorite skincare products. I am totally a skincare junkie. I legitimately enjoy researching “skincare tips”, “at-home facials” and “how to get perfect skin.” ha! I’ve learned a lot of things over the years and have truly found a regimen that works great for my combination (more dry than oily) skin type.
Now let’s talk about some of these products and their benefits, shall we?
First up, my everyday cleanser and moisturizers. I’ve been using Sunday Riley ceramic clay cleanser since December 2015 and my skin always feels so clean afterwards. I like that the product doesn’t get too foamy or soapy. The natural ingredients have really helped restore my skin. If you’ve tried it and are looking for something else I can recommend Bare Minerals CLAY Cleanser (it’s great too). For my day-time moisturizer I use First Aid Beauty’s Oil-free Mattifying Gel as my daily moisturizer. Don’t be alarmed by the term “gel” like I was in the beginning. It actually still looks like a white moisturizer but feels light-weight and doesn’t leave a greasy residue on the skin. For my day-time SPF moisturizer I use this one from Elemis. It’s honestly the only SPF I like because a.) it doesn’t turn my skin white, and b.) the consistency is not thick! Fun Fact: I used to mix my SPF with my moisturizer (or use one with SPF already in it) but I learned thats actually what may have caused these hard but small little breakouts. I never knew the cause! My estehician said to always put SPF on AFTER your moisturizer because you don’t want it to penetrate into your skin. You simply want the SPF to sit as a barrier on top of your moisturizer to protect you from the sun. I haven’t seen those annoying bumps ever since! Lastly, for my night-time moisturizer I’ve been using Shea Terra’s Organics Rose Cream. It’s more rich than my day-time cream which is what I need to help restore and re-hydrate my skin while I sleep. I’m a huge fan of it!
Skin Balancing Products
I never really knew that balancing the PH of my skin was an important step to include into my regimen. My eyes were opened when I stumbled upon an article online that mentioned the benefits of these products. Long story short, I used to get rough black heads around my nose and no matter how many times I exfoliated, washed my face or went in for a facial – they would creep up on me constantly! I soon learned that my skin’s PH was off and that I needed a skin balancing toner. Right now I’m using this toner above from Murad, but I’m not 100% hooked on it. I just re-ordered La Therapie’s skin balancing toner that I became so obsessed with but you can only get it online (hurry up and arrive!) I also use their under-eye cream (forgot to snap pic) which is so amazing too! Jurlique’s Rosewater Balancing Mist has been my favorite for traveling. It’s great for long airplane flights or using in your everyday routine. Another product I’ve been using day and night after I apply my toner – is this Boscia Sake Treatment Water. It’s an innovative, sake-infused, Treatment Water that hydrates, brightens, and preps the skin for maximum absorption of treatments, serums, and moisturizers. I loveeeeeee it!
These are some of my favorite exfoliating products. I don’t recommend using these all at once obviously, but just wanted to throw out some of my faves. Let’s start with my go-to. Sunday Riley’s Good Genes treatment. This is the prices item in my skincare cabinet ($105) but it will last you forever. I apply a very small amount 2-3 times a week before bed after I Cleanse + Tone. I leave it on my skin (recommended) followed by my rich SheaTerra moisturizer and it seriously has transformed my skin. I wake up the next morning and literally – my skin is glowing. Another exfoliator I sometimes use is this Tri-Active Exfoliant from iS Clinical. This is one that you should use once every 2 weeks. It is like a microdermabrasion in a bottle. I always use it when I return from my travels. It’s one that my esthetician recommended. And if you’re looking for a night-time oil that’s also anti-aging you might want to try LUNA from Sunday Riley. It’s exactly what it reads on the bottle (see above). Last but not least I’m hooked on this pumpkin masque from Banish. It’s all natural and organic and leaves my skin feeling soft and looking refreshed every time. Get it here.
Natural Makeup Remover
I hate taking off my eye-makeup at the end of a long day, but I haven’t slept with makeup on since I was 14. (I seriously have not missed a day since!!!!) I found that this natural eye-makeup remover from Alba that I got at Whole Foods works great on my skin! It doesn’t irritate my eyes or leave them itchy and dry afterwards. Another great thing you can try is coconut oil. Works just a great! 😉
I hope this post answered all of your skincare questions for me. I know maintaining healthy skin can be a pain. One day you love your skin and the next day it hates you. I encourage you not to give up. It sucks when you spend tons of money on products that you feel aren’t doing the job but keep in mind that it’s totally normally to experience occasional breakouts. I used to think that getting a pimple meant it was time for me to change my skincare routine. Wrong! The key is to maintain an even, healthy looking skin tone and not to freak out when a pimple comes because I promise it will eventually go away. 😉 Patience is key.
If my skin is something I have to look at for the rest of my life, it’s worth investing in. I hope this post inspired any of you out there who need it. Thanks for stopping by. Love you guys!
