Whenever I am in need of retail therapy, there is no better place for me to binge than Nordstrom Rack. What I love most about shopping at the Rack is that it’s like a treasure hunt – you never know what exciting style finds you will discover. And since the Rack is the off-price retail division of Nordstrom, it’s easy to find brand name designers at affordable prices. Below I share my tips to finding the best spring style looks/deals while shopping the Rack.
What’s my Style Goal?
Just because it’s a new season that doesn’t mean you have to go out and buy an entire spring wardrobe. Looking for key pieces can be tough especially in a big store like Nordstrom Rack. To avoid feeling overwhelmed and/or wanting everything in sight, go in with a ‘style goal’. For example, my style goal is feeling comfortable in what I wear but looking chic at the same time. Of course, my goal changes depending on the occasion, but going in with a goal in mind helps me focus on what I need when I’m out shopping.

Spring is all about showering your closet with fun and playful pieces. Try to find something that you know you can wear again. That’s the brains of bargain shopping! While recently shopping the Rack, I came across this really cute black and white patterned top which you might think is a wear-one-time piece but it’s the perfect tunic to style again later in the summer and even in the fall. The top adds a cool vibe to the outfit and the neutral colors make it timeless. I also found these casual and flirty shorts that are versatile enough to wear in the day or night. At a glance, the shorts kind of look like a flirty skirt too – which I love!
Saz Tip: Go for a nude heel if you want to make the appearance of your legs look longer/leaner! I prefer an open-toe sandal for this look but you can also rock a pump!
I will be sharing even more tips to shopping the Rack at a later date along with my personal style finds from their L.A. store (or even my hometown store in Frisco, TX!) Tag me on Instagram with your style finds with the hashtag #NordstromRack so I can see the look you discovered at the Rack. If you don’t have one of their over 100 stores nearby, you can also find great deals online at Nordstromrack.com.

Happy almost Friday! In today’s ‘Be Your Own Boss’ webisode, I’m uncovering some helpful tips behind photography. As a blogger, I think mastering the imagery of your brand is a key component behind your success early on. Of course I can’t take all the credit, so I’m bringing in someone who has been taking my photos for years. Hope you’ll subscribe to my channel and comment below if you enjoyed watching this video.
- Try not to over-edit your photos. If you are looking for an easy-to-edit program, one of my favorites is Pixlr.com.
- Many bloggers will work with photographers who are looking for exposure for trade. AKA You don’t have to pay them as long as you give them credit in your posts. This may be a better option for you if you’re an aspiring blogger and you don’t have a significant other to take your photos. Research photographers in your area. However, I still recommend investing in a camera to have when you need it (because you will need it!)
- The best time of day to shoot is during the sunset hour, or “Magic Hour” as bloggers like to call it.
- I don’t recommend watermarking your photos. I know it might be in your best interest to want to protect your images but unfortunately it’s the risk we take through sharing online. You can always express at the end of each post to give credit to your name if images are shared.
- Practice makes perfect. Go out there and mess around with your camera. That’s honestly the best way to learn + get to know your equipment.
- If you are looking to shoot candid photography, invest in a tripod for steadier shots. Stevie mentioned the shutter speed, that really comes into play for those walking photos!
- When it comes to posting photos, try not to post 2 of the same. Change it up! Get creative with your shots but don’t try to make it look like a fashion “editorial” shoot. Blogging photography should look relatable + candid.
- Don’t waste your time trying to make your pictures perfect. Sometimes the raw/candid images are people’s favorites.
- Be patient. Once you get into a groove, shooting videos + photos will be the easier part!
- It can be super awkward taking photos in public so try to find an area that isn’t overly crowded with people and traffic. We have a few of our favorite spots that have always been great to get the job done. I like colorful walls and also alley’s because there’s some great depth of field! Not-so-fun Fact: I’ve recently experienced anxiety when I’m out in public shooting photos. So many people stop and stare and it makes me feel so weird and uncomfortable. Then again, I feel like I’m asking for it. lol! People don’t really get what blogging is so it’s tough. There are times when I’m seriously begging Stevie to hurry up and get the shot so we can quit drawing so much attention to ourselves! Trying to get over that but it’s a work in progress.
Yesterday was such a busy day spent road trippin’ to Orange County to meet with our pastor for the wedding. Let’s just say, it’s one more thing I can cross off on the check-list! As the days are quickly passing by, I’m trying my best to manage my time between work and wedding stuff! I’m also trying to get in as much time as I can in the gym to build a little booty before the big day (ha!). I’ve been trying to shoot my outfits along the way. As you can see, yesterday was all about comfort. You can never go wrong with denim + leggings! Stevie let me borrow his denim shirtfrom Topman. Yes it’s a men’s shirt!!! I love the fit and relaxed look/feel so I just had to steal it. The fun thing about denim is the fabric is unisex, so there’s no shame in game. (that’s what I’m telling myself, of course.)
Obsessed with this look? Yay or nay for wearing men’s clothing?
Happy Monday! Ever struggle with learning how to curl your hair? Well todayon my channel, I’m showing you how to create big, natural looking curls with a straightener. I recently cut my hair and so this is the first time in a long time I’ve attempted to curl my hair with a straightener. Although a curling wand is typically easier to use (I’ll be the first to admit!), the curls that a wand create are different than the style you can achieve with a straightener. In this video, you will learn an easy technique for curling your hair with a straightener – as well as helpful tips and tricks along the way. Enjoy!

First of all, I just want to say THANK YOU for all the sweet engagement wishes!! You guys are seriously the best. Today I’m spotlighting my second love at the moment – summer maxi dresses. I scored this striped maxi dress last weekend at an outlet mall I stopped at on my drive back from Coachella. I’m also sharing some unique styles that are perfect for pairing with chic summer sandals. I love a petite style maxi dress because it totally proves that these dresses aren’t just for tall chicks! I’m 5’2 so it’s always a great day when I can sport a comfy dress like this with sandals instead of heels.
Check out some of my fave maxi dress styles for under $100 below. I think when it comes to shopping for a style online, be careful and make sure you check the height of the model in the description before you add it to your cart. The styles I chose below are true to size so as long as you follow the size guide you should be good to know.
Saz Tip: If you have a maxi dress that you love but it’s too long, ditch the sky high heels and pair it with a skinny belt at the waist. This can help lift the dress off the ground and give you some breathing room between the ground and your dress.
Today I am excited, nervous, and thrilled to share a secret I’ve been keeping from my digital world for the past few months. I’m ENGAGED! ahhh
I’ve been going back and forth for months on whether or not I should share the personal news. There are a number of reasons I’ve been keeping it a secret. But after months of hiding my beautiful engagement ring, I needed to be honest and open about it. Love is such a beautiful thing, but sometimes when you put your personal life out there it gives people an excuse to have an opinion about it. I was so happy after I got engaged that I decided to cherish this special moment in my life with close family, friends and fellow acquaintances.
I’ve been actively posting my fashion and beauty tips with you guys for the past 4+ years and honestly didn’t know how to break the news. It gets really tricky (let me tell you!) when you try to separate your professional life from your personal life. Especially when your job consists of being yourself!? ha After I got engaged, I felt like I was taking it back to the traditional days (ie. you know when people didn’t share their engagement photos 5 minutes after it happens on social media?) and it was kind of nice! I was happy and that’s all that mattered.
Before he was my photographer and business partner, Stevie was my best friend. We met in college (University of North Texas!) 4 years ago and truthfully it was God who brought him into my life at the perfect time. The more I fell in love with him, the more I let go of my fears. I reached a crossroads in my life when I knew I needed to actively start pursuing the life I wanted. This meant going against a lot of people’s wishes for my life and to take a chance on my own. I am so glad I did. I’ve never met anyone as loving, kind, supportive, handsome and funny as this guy. No one makes me happier and no one can put up with crazy Sazan like he can! He might be white with freckles on the outside, but he’s got major flavor on the inside. His favorite food is Kurdish Dolma and he speaks my native language better than me hahaha We joke because he says I’m whiter than him.
How gorgeous is the ring? Stevie had it custom made – it’s a classic hearts and arrow round cut diamond in a cushion setting! It’s my dream ring!!!! I didn’t even tell him what ring I wanted (as long as it was’t pear-shaped LOL) so I was so impressed!!!!
Lastly, I want to thank all of you who take the time to visit my little life through my blog daily. You guys are my motivation! It’s so crazy to think that very soon I will be married. The past 6 months of planning have taken up all of my free time, but I’m so excited and can’t wait for this new journey in my life!

I’m currently in sunny Palm Springs for Coachella weekend one – and loving every minute of it. This year I decided to skip out on the festival and enjoy the cool desert vibes. (ie. pool parties, tanning, delicious food and of course – the fashion!) One perk I’ve noticed that comes with Coachella is all the festival inspired styles available on my fave shopping sites. I found the perfect romper for my weekend.
I recently discovered Missguided’sfestival collectionand instantly knew I was in Coachella heaven. I seriously wanted everything in sight. I’m a huge fringe fanatic, so picture my face when I saw all of the fringe items under this tab. After an hour of seriously contemplating on what to get, I narrowed it down to this neutral toned fringe romper. I love that the fringe straps can be worn on or off your shoulders. It’s definitely a cute eye-catcher in comparison to the traditonal ‘ole romper. I’m obsazzed!
The cool thing about bringing out the boho is you don’t have to be at a festival to rock boho pieces all summer long! Below are some of the pieces I fell in love with on the Misguided festival collection. Feel free to shop them directly below or shop all of the styles here.
By now, you guys know I’m obsazzed with color. The older I’m getting (OMG 5 years from 30!!!!) the more my style is becoming more sophisticated slash minimal chic. I think the new haircut is also a reason for this. LOL Anyways, I’m focusing less on trends and trusting my mood/personality on a specific day to help get me dressed.
I had some downtime last week to shop and check out some of my favorite cheap-but-chic stores. I didn’t realize that the Beverly Center mall in LA had a Uniqlo store (since when!!??) so I decided to check it out. Instantly, I was drawn to their baby blue cotton linen shorts that has a built-in little belt at the waist. I was drawn between this color and the military green shade. When I saw this baby blue striped button-up not too far away from the shorts I knew it was a sign I should keep the palette blue! This is a preppy and fun look that I decided to pair with heels to make it look more posh instead of school-girl. Ya feel me?
Happy Monday cuties! I’ve been getting tons of requests from you guys to share my beach waves hair routine so I decided to do a tutorial. Since cutting my hair super short, I’ve become a fan of the tousled waves look on my lob! Today on my channel you’ll see a super quick and easy how-to for creating effortless beach waves in minutes! No surprises here! It’s a really easy and fun look to try for spring/summer. Spice things up
