Stevie and Sazan are officially collaborating on a fun Youtube series!!! I am so excited to invite you into my married life with my crazy amazing husband. By now you’ve seen him make a few appearances on my channel and it was after receiving so many sweet messages that I finally convinced Stevie to start a series with me! The series is going to be all things Stevie and Sazan. We’re a newly married couple trying to figure the ways of life in the midst of managing a full-time business together. No matter how busy things get, we always make time to laugh and enjoy silly moments during the day. That’s what we hope to capture and share with you guys!
Outside of fashion and beauty blogging, I am just a regular ole’ girl who is newly married and wants to be the best wife I can be. Sure, I have goals but not every single one is work-related. Steve keeps me grounded. He’s the type of guy that gives every single person he talks to his attention 100%. He can make anyone feel special. He reminds me that what we do doesn’t define who we are. That’s another reason why I was inspired to start this series. This series is going to be more than fun and hilarious – it’s going to be raw. Sometimes I feel like this digital world tries to suck people into curating this “perfect” life. My life has never been perfect and there’s more to it than just fashion and beauty. My goal for this series is to open my home and invite you all in. Stevie and I are going to create fun challenge videos, share relationship advice as newlyweds, business partners, and open up to you guys like never before.
Many of you got an early access sneak peek at our first Stevie and Sazan series video through my Vessel account, but for those who missed it check it out on my youtube channel or watch below.
Before I go, I want to answer one question I got that I’ve received countless of times. Here it goes.
@Honiya – Was it difficult to marry Steve since you’re Kurdish?
Steve and I have faced so many obstacles (together and individually) since day 1. He was the sweetest most charming man I had ever met but there was only one “problem”. He wasn’t Kurdish. I grew up being taught that never in a million years would it be okay to marry anyone who wasn’t Kurdish (even though my grandfather married a Russian woman). I wanted to make my parents proud, so I never even looked at boys. Before Stevie, I only had one other relationship. He was Kurdish. I was 18 and thought I met the man of my dreams. As the years went on, I became more confused and afraid to commit to such a toxic relationship that I had. It was in college when I knew it was time to pull the plug on me trying to be my own match maker. I focused on my blog (which was a baby at the time!) and channeled my anger into creating content that made people happy. That made me feel useful which helped fill the void. When a relationship ends you truly feel like you just wasted so many years that you’ve invested your time and energy into. The turning point was meeting Stevie. He was a man of God, who literally sparked light to anyone who was around him. Of course I believed in God but I never knew who He was. I remember laying on the floor in my bedroom heartbroken crying to God saying that from now on whoever Jesus brings into my life, I will not judge based on whether they are Kurdish or not. I was open to finding my true love but even in that moment I still held on to that mystery man potentially being kurdish. It’s funny what can happen when you let go and let God. Part of me was terrified (because I was a control freak) but the other side of me just wanted to be free. When I met Steve, I knew God brought him into my life for a reason. I didn’t need anyone’s blessing because I knew I had God’s blessing. That’s truly what got me through some of the difficult days when I felt like I lost my family because of my decision to marry Steve. It’s unfortunate that cultural barriers still exist. No matter what, I’m blessed that this entire relationship has been a work of God and that today I am in the best place with my family and friends. It all worked out but as you can see it was more than difficult for me – it was life-changing. There are days when I get the meanest comments on social media saying that I am a disgrace to the Kurdish race or that I’ve “forgotten” about my Kurdish roots because I don’t post pictures of Kurdistan. The truth is I’m just being Me. I’ve learned through it all that the things I’ve wanted the most in my life were going to make some people unhappy and were things that I had to work extra hard for. I get to sleep next to my best friend every night for the rest of my life. That’s definitely a prize that was worth fighting for.

I just got back from NYC after spending a few days there for the Tommy Hilfiger x Rafael Nadal tournament event. I have to tell you guys all about it! The event celebrated the launch of Rafael Nadal’s new underwear and fragrance line in partnership with Tommy. Pretty perfect match if you ask me! 😉 When I arrived to New York, I got to visit the Tommy Hilfiger store on 5th and pick a cute outfit for the tennis tournament. There were so many cute things that I finally narrowed it down to three styles which you guys helped me decide on IG which one to wear!
Later that night, I met up with the other influencers for a game of table tennis at Spin NYC (Tommy style of course!) Afterwards we headed to a really nice intimate dinner at Sixty Soho. I loved the cute name plates they made with tennis balls. So creative! The food was also really great.
On the day of the event, it was such a beautiful day even though the sun was beaming hot! We got to take a bunch of pictures before the event started which was a lot of fun.
It felt like I was at an actually tennis match. The idea behind the match was “tennis with a twist”, which included celebrities and models such as Chanel Iman, Hannah Davis, Arthur Kurkov and many more who went head-to-head with the tennis champ himself in a strip tennis game. That’s right I said strip!!!
Everyone playing was wearing Tommy tennis outfits that seriously made me want to be a tennis player one day. The event’s commentators were Jane Lynch and Lake Bell who did a phenomenal job keeping the crowd entertained. Nadal played in his suit the entire time, but everyone was hoping he would have to strip down to his undies! That obviously didn’t happen because he beat everyone, but he did take his shirt off. 😉
I can’t forget to mention my role for the event! I got to catch all of the action LIVE by taking over the Tommy Hilfiger Periscope account. Best job ever!? If you’re not familiar with Periscope – it’s a live streaming app that lets you connect and interact with audiences in any moment. The highlight for me was seeing Nadal come over after walking the red carpet and waving hello to all of his fans on Periscope! It was the cutest thing ever. I almost dropped the phone.
After the event, my fellow influencers and I joined the Tommy team indoors for some air conditioning and good food at Bryant Park Grill. It was really nice getting to unwind and hang out with everyone before we said our goodbyes. Here’s what I wore – thanks for all your help guys!
Special thanks to the hardworking gals on the Tommy team. Probably one of the most hard working teams I’ve ever met. Love Sandra, Francesca, and Andrea… you guys made this all possible so thank you for the experience!
Can’t wait to see what Tommy has up his sleeves next…. 😉
I have been traveling a ton lately which has resulted in very few outfit posts – Instagram outfits don’t count! Or do they? I realized that sometimes it’s easier to post my outfits to Instagram when I’m on-the-go and to link the details to my LikeToKnow.itaccount. If you aren’t familiar with LTK, basically if you sign up on their website and then “like” any photo on my Instagram that has a “www.liketk.it” URL in the caption – you’ll receive the product links to shop my outfit straight to your inbox. It’s shopping made easy!
I decided to round up and share some of my favorite recent LikeToKnowIt outfits that I’ve featured on my IG feed. That way you’ll be all caught up with outfits that unfortunately didn’t make the blog! You’ll notice me wearing a lot of pieces more than once because when I find something I like I usually try to re-work it in my wardrobe as many times as I can before I’m “over it”. Anyone else that way? Enjoy!
It’s no secret that I’ve been a fan of blogging about beauty and skincare for the past 3-plus years now. Having a blog seriously gives you the perfect excuse to get out of the house, splurge on some new products (without feeling guilty) and discover if it’s an obsazzion worth sharing. Can I get a oh yes girrrl?
I’ve been living out of a suitcase traveling so much lately that I’ve been eyeing products that are easy to take with me to help ease my travel stress. I can’t live without my beauty and skincare products. As many of you saw in a recent Youtube video, my skincare routine consists of about 7 steps (sometimes more) because I don’t mess around in that department. Stevie calls me a skincare junkie! I’ll admit, I wish there was an easier way to take my entire beauty counter with me when I’m traveling, but I’ve learned the key is to be a strategic packer. Whether it’s a month long trip, a weekend getaway or even a visit to the gym, I’ve found a simple product to take with me wherever I go.
I’m talking aboutSimple Skincare’s Micellar Makeup Remover Wipes. It’s perfect for on the go even if you need to refresh your no-makeup skin. I brought them along for a weekend trip to a blogger summit. It was a quick trip, but I noticed that the Micellar Wipes came in handy when I needed to refresh my eye makeup looks from day to night without messing up other parts of my face. I’ve seriously taken it out of my bag when I’m in a cab or on an airplane for a quick refresher! They remove makeup and also hydrate the skin without any harsh ingredients.
Another pro to this product is the scent- it’s light and hardly noticeable. Some wipes aren’t fragrance-free and those ones always leave my skin feeling tight and irritated. Try them out and let me know what you think by hash-tagging #SazTips and #TestTheWater.
P.S. In the last picture you might have noticed I was using the wipe to also gently remove a little makeup scuff I got on my dress while we were shooting. It actually cleaned it up. Yippee!
Special thanks to Simple Skincare for partnering up with me on this post! xx
As a full-time blogger, youtuber, host and newly married wife – a day in my life can get a little crazy! I thought it would be cool for you guys to see how busy my day can get. Can I just say – there’s this misconception that bloggers sit around all day and take Instagram photos (ha!) but that’s totally not the case here!
Everyday for me is different than the last and that’s what keeps me going. This video will give you a good idea of how crazy a day in my life can get. Enjoy!
***Like what you see? Hope you’ll sazscribe to my youtube channel to see more.
Sometimes the hero of an outfit is a classic pair of denim jeans. I probably own a million pairs (as you’ve seen) but there’s only a hand full that I consider my BFF. You know, like the kind you can stylishly wear on any day when there’s nothing else to wear? I knew this particular pair from AG Jeansnew collection would be a style that I could count on all year round.
From Day to Night
I recently spent the day in Santa Monica shopping, running errands, and meeting up with some blogger friends for dinner. These jeans were perfect for the occasion. I like the cropped high-waisted style. It felt very 90’s, but modern meets chic at the same time. I have longer legs than torso so I love how the cropped flare style sits. When comparing AG jeans and my personal beauty routine, I feel like the common thread between the two is comfort. When it comes to my make-up routine I’m all about looking natural. So I totally feel like when I’m wearing an outfit I like it to compliment that same style. The little rips and tears in the jeans give it a super laid back vibe. This totally matches my every day style because that’s exactly what I do with my makeup- I try to achieve that sort of flawless look without looking like I’m trying too hard. In other words, effortless. I went with a comfortable nude strappy heel that was easy to walk around in all day with a loose button up that’s easy to transition into night.
This is an outfit that I can wear while I’m shooting my next makeup tutorial, running around buying makeup for my next video, or simply going out with friends. And just like sometimes when I add a bold lip to compliment my makeup, I love to add a pair of heels with the jeans. I think it spices up the look a little bit more!
Notice I’m also rockin’ my natural curls? It’s been a while so I figured why not go with the natural theme of this look and keep everything super chill.
Last weekend I enjoyed a mini staycation in downtown Los Angeles where I got to experience LA LIVE for the first time. We stayed at the JW Mariott with a room that overlooks an incredible view of the city. I kept snapping so many pics!
During our time, I wore this little white off the shoulder top paired underneath a flirty skirt – as many of you saw on my insta. I’ve been looking everywhere for an off the shoulder top that’s cute and easy to style. I foundthis onefor on Chicwish and I ended up buying a lot more because I kept finding cute things (don’t you love and hate when that happens!) If you’re going to order online the measurements are true to size. I didn’t have any issues with anything being too big or small.
I linked more of my favorites in the widget below. They have so many more cute things that I’m tempted to go on after this post and shop a little more. ha!
As many of you saw on my Instagram, I was in New York for an exciting denim project with American Eagle Outfitters and Cosmopolitan Magazine. I’m so excited to share the articles are now live on their site! Ahh!! Before I re-direct you over there, I’ve just got to say how surreal it feels to collaborate on such a fun project. I thought it would be fun to rewind and take you guys behind the scenes inside of the 2 fun shoots we did. Keep scrolling!

Today I’m sharing this little number I wore last week to BCBG’s resort runway show in LA. I usually go with black and white when I throw an outfit together last minute. When my outfit consists of a comfy tank paired under a skirt, I can get away with fun shoes and eye-catching accessories. I’ve had these pieces for a while, but I linked similar styles below. As you can see these cut-outstrappy sandalsare so chic and perfect for dressing up my look.
I had a lot of fun at the BCBG show getting to see so many friends. It was the first event in a while that I’ve been to since things have been so busy at home. Sometimes it’s nice to get dressed up and go! 😉
Stevie and I are so excited to share our first video to our Stevie and Sazan series that’s going to launch on my Youtube this week! Make sure you sazscribe so you can get the video before anyone else! Also, if you have any questions for Stevie and I comment below and we’ll try our best to answer as many in our first video!
Consider a crop top, short overalls, and sneakers my favorite summer uniform. I’ve been soaking in comfort all season long. Yesterday, Stevie and I spent the afternoon shopping for our apartment. I can’t believe it’s going to be 3 months this week since we got married and moved in together! Time is flying by! Now if only perfecting our apartment could be that quick and easy. It has been a work in progress. We had a new couch delivered to our apartment the other day and it was seriously a disaster trying to get it up through the elevator. It wouldn’t fit! They finally managed to get the couch inside (through the stairs), but an hour later Stevie and I chatted about getting a bigger place with an office.
We found a place we really like so hopefully we’ll be “home” in no time. #MarriedLife
Speaking of married life, I asked Stevie the other day if he would be interested in starting a series with me on my Youtube channel called “Stevie & Sazan”. I thought maybe you guys would love little relationship videos from us mixed with some fun newlywed challenges and crazy vlogs along the way. It’s just an idea but if you think it’s a good one comment below and let me know your feedback.
In the mean time, you’ll probably see many more of these comfortable/lazy-girl outfits. hah!! Life is too crazy at the moment (and hot out!) to care 😉
