One Skincare Product has me WHIPPED!

Reviews Routines Skincare

New Season, New changes:
Hi babes! I’m at a stage in my life right now where I want to make every decision count. Whether it’s eating clean, working out, or decluttering my Instagram feed- I want to stay committed to living a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. When it comes to my skincare routine, I’ve always been on top of that. I seriously haven’t slept with makeup on since I was 16 years old and you can check me on that!  I’m especially conscious about the products I use during the different seasons. As the weather changes, so does our skin’s needs and I try to pay close attention to that. Call me harsh but if a product is sitting on my bathroom shelf and doesn’t do anything for me, then you’ll soon see it in the trash or the donation pile. I recently purged products that I haven’t used in months and decided to swap it for products I actually need in my routine- like an SPF product I actually like!

I HATED SPF for So Long, Here’s Why:
Today I want to dive into a topic in my routine that I feel like so many of us have struggled with. It’s three big letters: SPF. What does SPF even stand for? *Googles it* Real talk though, something I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with in my skincare routine is incorporating SPF. I don’t know why it’s been a struggle for me but I’ll be completely honest-  a lot of SPF products I’ve tried do more harm than good. I can’t stand the greasy, streaky and countless times it has ruined my makeup looks. I gave up on SPF for a while but there was always this voice in the back of my head (probably my mom) telling me to put on that SPF!

I’ve noticed that as seasons change so should my skincare routine. For me, that’s my moisturizer. During the cooler months, I tend to go more rich because my skin is more dry in the cold weather. During the warmer months, I have to have a lightweight moisturizer with SPF. I’ve been trying a ton of different ones and surprisingly found one that I love. Olay has an awesome one called their Regenerist Whip Face Moisturizer. The second I put it on my face and neck I noticed how fast absorbing it is (cream to liquid) and can’t believe there’s SPF 25 inside!  How can something like this that delivers powerful hydrating anti-aging benefits AND include SPF without feeling sticky or greasy? I have no clue other than it’s been amazing. It’s lightweight (no flashback!) and keeps my skin hydrated underneath my makeup all day. (I love to use this in place of my daytime moisturizer and appreciate that it has a breathable feel.) Now that we’re in the hot summer months, I can breathe a sigh of relief knowing I’m consciously taking care of my skin daily and FINALLY SPF is no longer a chore but a crucial part of my lifestyle.

What is one thing in your life that you are doing to better yourself (or your skin!)? I asked Stevie this question and he said, “I want to bring bananas back into my diet. Everyone said they have too much sugar but I’m not buying it! Plus they get me HYPE!“ What does that even mean? Hahaha anyways, please share your thoughts on this below because I want to know! Until next time… xo

  1. I have always been told by a dermatologist to wear at least an SPF of 30. Does this really have enough protection?

    1. I had the exact same thought – it looks like this blog censors comments so who knows if this issue will even get addressed…yikes! nothing worse than someone spreading misinformation

    2. Hi Fritz, Spf 30 for everyday use is good! Unless you go to the beach or you are going to be outdoors all day, then you will want a higher SPF. When I’m in direct sunlight or at the pool/beach I reapply it every 2 hours. Hope this helps, have a great summer!

  2. Hi Sazan, I struggled with finding a good sunscreen until I found SuperGoop! It’s a lightweight skin screen SPF 50 and it does not feel like sticky or it doesn’t smell. Check it out!
To better myself I will try to drink lemon water first thing in the morning give up coffee and alcohol. Wish me Luck Lol

  3. hi there! Dermatologist here practicing in the Bay Area (Go SF :P) – I would HIGHLY suggest an SPF higher than what you have recommended here. The difference between 25 SPF and 30 SPF is SIGNFICANT! There are many peer-reviewed studies out there that support this – very interesting read that you should probably reference

  4. Which eye cream do you use as I am turning 30 soon and feel I need to start incorporating that into my skin care routine.
