About the trend: Happy Friday! Today I’m re-inventing the traditional idea of casual sweatpants and sweatshirt style. When you think of sweats you think of the couch, right? Well, we’re taking it to the nightlife scene (in a chic way)! This is a trend I became inspired by during New York Fashion Week- so why not take it from the runway to the REAL-way?! Can I get an amen up in here!? Notice the style is relaxed but the prints are far from it. This is the perfect Friday night look that will not only make you feel comfortable (literally), it will bring you confidence in knowing that you can make a chic statement without trying too hard. Ya feel me!?
About the outfit: I found these amazing faux leather sweatpants at Urban Outfitters last week during their Black Friday sale! I got them for $20! I literally died in the store and came back to life. When shopping for these kind of pants, you can try going a size up for the looser/baggier look. The sweatshirt blouse is from Lovers and Friends- they are seriously one of my favorite brands EVER. They know how to make you look like the life of the chic party. I told myself I wasn’t going to buy anymore black heels, but then I saw these pointed-toe ones at Zara (on Friday Friday as well!!!) and I couldn’t say no to an amazing deal. Just $40 on sale! You can shop all these pieces above under “Outfit Details.”
Have a stylish weekend!
I wore this outfit for a casual day out and about in LA. Whoever said florals aren’t fabulous in the fall can go check themselves! Right!? I personally love floral prints all year round and can’t help but show a little blossom love every once in a while. Also, who says you can’t look like a million bucks without spending it? Whoever that is needs to go hang out with the person who said florals aren’t fab in the fall. ha! Seriously, I love that I found this draped dress at Forever 21- yes I am never going to be ashamed to say that I shop there. I always hit the fashion jackpot and I’m proud of it (and so is my wallet). I also scored this denim jacket there a few months ago for under $30- Can I get a thank you Jesus!!!
Ah. Gotta love chasing style on a budget.
Happy Hump Day! Today’s outfit is one for the books. I am obazzzed with the boho chic look, it’s an absolute favorite of mine. When people ask me to describe my personal style, it’s so hard because I literally dress based on my mood for that day. AKA my style changes daily! However, no matter what style I’m in you’ll always see a pop of color or an oh-em- gee statement piece! In case you didn’t notice, I shot this outfit a couple of weeks ago- my hair gives it away. Anyways, I love these boots from Timberland. They’re so comfy and actually the only pair of high boots that I own at the moment. They match almost everything!
P.S The winner for my Frankie Rose Cosmetics giveaway is….
Confession time. I feel the sexiest when I mix edgy and feminine pieces together. I am obsazzed. This chic coin necklace I added to this super “chill” outfit makes it look classy and effortless. I just had to had my girlie touch! I rarely separate from my heels, but I’m sorta attached to these P&P combat boots. They match everything and are so comfortable.
Gotta love it.

It’s time for another exciting collaboration post with Target! Today is all about inviting layers into your wardrobe…like now! It’s the perfect time to do it. Layering in the fall is so simple; basically, pair lightweight pieces under chunky fabrics. I’ll tell ya, I am a girl who shamelessly layers all year long. In the summer, you’ll probably see me layering light-weight pieces like a cute dress with a kimono, for example. During the fall and winter seasons, I tend to cover up more (not so sure though how this year will go since I live in LA now). I recently wore this super comfy Target sweater (the kind you can breathe in) with a denim vest in Dallas to keep me stylish AND warm. It was sooo cold that I was layering like it was no body’s bizzzzzness!
Let me cut to the chase. If you’re someone saying, “I can’t layer! It makes me look like freaking Shrek!”, well girl, I’m going to stop you right there. Done right, layering can actually FLATTER your body-type (even if you’re a curvier girl). Yep! Skinny minnies aren’t the only ones who are allowed to sit with this one (Mean Girls movie reference).
Don’t worry if you have no clue on where to start with this whole layering thing. I’ve got you covered!
Tip 1: Three layers is probably enough. Unless you are climbing Mt. Everest, of course. My thing is why make it complicated on yourself? The eye likes to see three (aka rule of thirds) so do that and you’re good!
Tip 2: Chill on the chunky. No need to add bulk around your bulk. Who would want to do that!? Avoid overly fluffy and puffy items too, because this can actually bring more attention to problem areas you’re trying to cover up! Especially for all my curvier women, the layered look is about adding color and warmth not bulk.
Tip 3: Pair lightweight pieces under chunky fabrics. This is what I did in my outfit post (refer to pics above). If you have a chunky piece, like this denim vest, then make sure everything else is nice and slim. It will balance out the chunky!
Tip 4: Layer Jewelry. If you’re too shy to start layering, you can still stay on board with the trend by layering on the jewelry/accessories. I recommend if you’re layering clothing than to stick with casual accessories like stud earrings or a stack of bracelets- but that’s just my personal taste. P.S Scarves count as a fun layering accessory!
Hope this helped!
