Over the past few months I have been receiving tons of requests from you guys to share my curly hair routine. Well here it is! I love slash hate when my girlfriends make comments about how genetically blessed I am in the hair department. I don’t think so. In fact if I get out of the shower and decide to put absolutely no product in my hair and let it hair dry – it’s a disaster. I’m constantly learning how to appreciate my curls by taking care of them. In other words, I’ve been paying more attention to the heat I’m applying on my hair and the products I’m using. After sharing my straight hair routine, I decided why not do the same for my curly hair routine?

I’m learning to love my curly hair thanks to Living Proof products. It’s the first brand I’ve used in a long time that has a curly hair line that actually works. Over the past few months you’ve seen me working closely with them to take better care of my hair and understand the science behind their products. Here’s what I’m currently using and my natural curls routine. It’s important for me to mention first that the haircut matters. When I cut my hair short and got rid of all the dead ends, I noticed a huge difference!

1. Shampoo + Conditioner

I wash my hair just 2-3 times a week. I’ve been using Living Proof’s Perfect Hair Day Shampoo and Conditioner to really cleanse my hair and boy does it work. I took their travel-sized bottles with me during my month long travel. Celebrity hairstylist and Living Proof’s in-house genius Chris McMillan taught me that it’s best to let my hair air dry completely after the shower and DO NOT touch it with my fingers or style until it’s completely dry. I found it helpful when I’m in the shower to brush my hair with a wide-tooth comb or my finger tips so that when I get out of the shower I can gently pat it dry, put in my products, and leave it alone until it dries. It really makes a difference and I’ve seen less frizz!!!

2. Styling Products
I have naturally thick hair when it dries so for me creating volume isn’t my biggest concern. The biggest problem I run into with my curls is frizz and it’s so annoying! That was until I started using Living Proof. Right now I’m using their Restore Instant Repair cream to smooth and correct my damaged split ends. I also apply a small amount of their Curl Defining Styling Cream or Curl Enhancing Styling Mousse (sometimes both) for extra conditioning and long-lasting touchable curls!

3. Heat Styling Tips

After my hair dries on its own with the products in there, I will then go back and touch up any areas that aren’t willing to cooperate! Small touch-ups are all I need! Usually I do this with my curling wand or a low-heat curling iron. I run my fingers through my hair after to blend all the curls in together and keep things looking natural!

My favorite thing about all these products are that they are for all hair types, sulfate/silicone/oil-free and safe for color treated hair. I’ve been trying tons of their other products and haven’t been disappointed with any of them so far. Like any health regiment/routine, I recommend you use these products consistently for an extended period of time. You’ll notice healthier hair in just one use (I did) – but even better results over-time. Cheers!

  1. Thank you Sazan. Great advices. My hair is growing, is thick and curly prone to frizz and definitely had much helped me dry with a microfiber towel, wrap it alone without using any product, leave it to dry naturally and have not had any such problem of frizz.
I love all your post, you are very smart and very beautiful.

  2. Hello Sazan

I follow ur tips quite frequently and I need to tell u that u look quite stunning.
I want you to recommend me certain product for my hair to give a scrunchy bouncier look but my hair are falt.. Not exactly fall flat but waivey if I may say so. What can I possibly apply that gives me curls and scrunch like urs?

Pls suggest.. I am totally bored of my current style.

    Thank you

  3. I also have thick, most frizzy curly/wavy hair and it can be hard to manage. I’ll have to give Living Proof a try!!

What has worked on my lately is the Alterna Haircare Caviar 10-in-one complete correction, before applying coconut oil. I need to work on my curling game with a curling wand though 🙂 One step at a time haha

  4. 💙💙💙 Living Proof! I use PHD and it took my hair from annoying to easy in 3 weeks 🤗🤗🤗 Chris is amazing & is the only reason I am aware of my hair! 😊😊 who designed the outfit? It looks adorable! BTW– ur hair looks amazing ☺️🤗😍

  5. Hello – I am also a curly girl and I really loved your tutorial! I have a few questions:
Is your hair naturally less curly at the root – particularly the fringe section? Or do you do something to make it a bit straighter?
On the days that you dont wash your hair, do you still wet it and go through the above process again?
If you dont wet your hair in the morning, is it still ok when you wake up? Mine looks like a birdsnest every morning! Do you do anything special so it still looks good in the morning?
Do you have any info from your hairdresser about the shape of your cut that I could give to my hairdresser?

    Thank you!!!!

  6. I have naturally wavy hair – not too curly but definitely frizzy. I wear my hair both ways – naturally wavy as well as pin straight (via a flat iron).

Either way I style my hair, I use the Somaluxe Exotic Oil Conditioner – It eliminates/makes the frizz go away and gives you a smooth and sleek look. This product does as good a job and smells great. I have been using the same bottle now for 2 months – it lasts a long time. . .

  7. Thanks for sharing how you style your curly hair. I’ve been trying to find a way to tame my frizzy curls for years. I’m surprised that you can have frizz free curls without using your fingers to style your hair until it’s completely dry. It’s good to know that it’s possible to air dry my hair without fussing with it that much to make it look great. I can’t wait to try this!

  8. Hello:)

Sazan I love your hair, it looks so amazing. And also your haircolour impressed me. Which colour ist it? 😊

  9. Hi Sazan,

    Thanks,

    Matilde
